The WISE Welcome Meeting is a dedicated event for newcomers to the WISE Community, bringing new members together to connect, learn, and be inspired. Over two engaging days, participants will get to know one another and explore what it means to be part of WISE.

The meeting provides an introduction to the WISE program, its vision, structure, and research areas, as well as the wide range of activities offered through the WISE Research School, including courses, summer schools, and study trips. The program also features inspiring talks from invited speakers from industry and the WISE Research Arenas (WIRAs), providing opportunities to build connections across universities and disciplines.

This year’s meeting will take place at Elite Grand Hotel in Norrköping, a historic venue in the heart of the city. The program will include presentations from WISE researchers and coordinators, interactive poster sessions showcasing new projects and ideas, and plenty of opportunities for discussions and networking.

As part of the social program, participants will visit the Visualization Center in Norrköping. The visit will feature a spectacular dome show with Anders Ynnerman, taking us on a journey through space using OpenSpace, a visualization tool developed in collaboration with NASA. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore the center’s interactive exhibitions.

A key part of the Welcome Meeting is the oral pitches and poster sessions, where new PhD students and postdocs introduce themselves and their planned research projects. The sessions are designed to be friendly and informal, giving you an opportunity to share your early ideas, meet fellow participants, and start conversations within the WISE Community. No finished results or polished presentations are expected.

Attendance is expected for all new WISE PhD students and postdocs. We encourage newcomers to attend the Welcome Meeting as early as possible to gain a good understanding of the program, discover the opportunities available within WISE, and start building connections across the community.
