The Sweden–Brazil Strategic Partnership, established in 2009, created the foundation for bilateral cooperation in innovation and high‑technology industries. Structured strategic cooperation began in 2015 with the first High‑Level Group on Aeronautics (HLG) meeting and was further strengthened in 2016 through the launch of the Steering Group of Innovation (SGI).
The SGI framework focuses on four priority areas: bioeconomy, life sciences and health, sustainable cities, and sustainable mining and green metallurgy.
The partnership is coordinated by the Swedish Ministry of Climate and Enterprise (KN), with support from the Office of Science and Innovation (OSI Brasília) and the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), involving government agencies such as Vinnova, Finep, and Embrapii, along with academia, research institutes, and industry.
The Sweden–Brazil Innovation Week 2026 (SBIW 2026) is organized by Team Sweden Brazil, led by the Embassy of Sweden and OSI Brasília, in collaboration with Business Sweden, Swedcham, CISB, and the Honorary Consulates of Sweden, with special involvement in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
SBIW 2026 serves as a strategic platform for dialogue, innovation, and bilateral collaboration.
