Nordic Chip Summit 2026 brings together semiconductor, photonics and quantum technology leaders, researchers, investors, policymakers, and ecosystem builders from across the Nordics and Europe. Join us to gain first-hand insight into Europe's semiconductor future, emerging technologies, defence and dual-use opportunities, funding programmes and industry trends, while connecting with the people shaping Europe's deep-tech future.
The event takes place in the heart of the Kvanttinova ecosystem, a leading Nordic hub for semiconductor, quantum and deep-tech innovation. The event is organised by Kvanttinova and FiCCC (the Finnish Chips Competence Centre), in collaboration with VTT, Aalto University, and the City of Espoo.

After the day programme, you'll have the chance to enjoy networking with fellow participants over cocktails during boat transportation to our scenery dinner location in Suomenlinna sea fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Listed location at the coast of Helsinki.
At Suomenlinna, we'll enjoy a tasty dinner in Tenalji von Fersen – a renovated banquet hall located in the old granary of the fortification’s bakery, built in 1775. In this unique location you'll have the chance to continue the great discussions from the day, get to know new people, and to see a piece of Finnish history.
The boat transportation to Suomenlinna leaves at 18:00 from Otaniemi. At the end of the dinner, the vessels will take the group to the Helsinki main market square. The first vessel will leave at 22:00 and second at 22:30. From the market square, bus transportation back to the conference venue will be organised. Other transportation options from Suomenlinna are provided by HSL (á 3,30€) until 2:00.

Antti has an exceptionally wide view to the industry: as a former CEO of VTT and active member of EARTO, with current seats in multiple boards, EU tables and as his role as an advisor, he can share a comprehensive image about the development stage and future direction of the chip industry. You don't want to miss this!

On Wednesday morning, we offer a chance to join on an industry tour in the Kvanttinova ecosystem. We will start the morning at Micronova, VTT's and Aalto University's joint piloting and development hub. After a technical startup presentation, and visiting the 50-qubit quantum computer, we'll take a bus to Bluefors, and get to see how the world's coolest equipment are made.

2) IEEE ESTC (Electronics System-Integration Technology Conference): Heterogeneous integration roadmap workshop
The 11th IEEE Electronics System-Integration Technology Conference takes place in Helsinki on 9–11 September 2026. As a part of the conference programme, Business Finland will offer an open workshop on the Heterogeneous integration roadmap on Wednesday 9 September morning. Salah Nasri is the CEO and Co-Founder of the International Semiconductor Industry Group (ISIG), a global organization founded in 2010 that brings together senior leaders across the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. The organization operates across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, serving as a trusted forum for strategic dialogue on the future of the semiconductor industry.
Salah is also the author of the bestselling book Game of Chips: How Semiconductors Became the High-Stakes Poker of Global Power, which explores the geopolitical, technological, and economic forces shaping the semiconductor industry and the strategic competition between nations for technological leadership.
Salah also advises governments and emerging semiconductor ecosystems on industry development strategies, supporting initiatives across regions to strengthen semiconductor innovation, manufacturing capabilities, and startup ecosystems.
Salah graduated from Oxford University and Loughborough University with a Bachelors in International Relations and Economics. He is also a Stanford University GSB Alumni. He has previously worked for Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs and Worldwide Business Research.

Marika Mentula
VP, Network Infrastructure Sales, Nokia
Marika Mentula is the Vice President (VP) of Network Infrastructure Business in AI&Cloud segment at Nokia, based in Finland. She leads Nokia’s engagement with some of the fastest growing European AI players and industrial consortiums. Her current primary focus is orchestrating Nokia’s and its ecosystem’s strategic approach to the EU’s AI Gigafactory initiative, spearheading multi-billion-euro collaborations to build world-class sites for AI-driven innovation in Europe.
Marika brings a perspective to her current mandate, operating on the belief that ecosystem collaboration is the primary driver of AI competitiveness. Her approach leverages years of experience in driving customer engagements and partnerships, where technology meets business to ensure AI initiatives deliver security and long-term growth.
Marika joined Nokia in 1998, she has held various senior roles across supply chain, operations, strategy and sales. At Nordic Chip Summit, Marika will introduce the AI Gigafactory initiative, discuss the benefits of ecosystem collaboration in building Europe's AI competitiveness

Paul de Bot
Owner, Systemview Consultancy BV
Paul de Bot joined TSMC in 2015, and after various roles in business development and account management, was President of TSMC EMEA, responsible for the business in Europe and Israel, until January 2026. Subsequently, he was Executive VP Global Sales Strategy until August 2026.
Paul started his career at Philips in the area of video technology, reaching the position of Chief Strategy Officer of the digital TV systems division of Philips. In 2003 he joined Philips Semiconductors (which later became NXP) as Vice President Strategy & Business Development for their consumer, automotive and identification businesses, respectively. Prior to joining TSMC, Paul had further executive roles in the software industry and in corporate finance.
Paul received his M.Sc. in EE and Engineering Doctorate in Telecommunications from Eindhoven University of Technology of The Netherlands, and his M.Sc. in Business Valuation (Corporate Finance) from TIAS Business School of The Netherlands.
Now, Paul is starting his next phase as an advisor and investor through Systemview Consultancy BV.
At Nordic Chip Summit, Paul will give a keynote speech about the state of the global semiconductor market, based on his extensive experience at the forefront of European semiconductor industry. Paul will also host the panel on semiconductor funding.

Mikko Möttönen
Professor of Quantum Technology and an Academy Professor at Aalto University and VTT
Dr. Mikko Möttönen is renowned for his pioneering work in superconducting quantum‐electric circuits and ultrasensitive bolometers, culminating to the development of an autonomous quantum processing unit (AQPU). His research bridges both experimental innovation and deep theoretical insight.
A recipient of five ERC grants, Mikko earned his doctorate in 2005 from the Helsinki University of Technology at the Department of Applied Physics. His groundbreaking work has not only advanced quantum physics but has also enabled the commercialization of quantum-computing devices, exemplified by the spinout of IQM Quantum Computers, a quantum unicorn, from his research group.
As one of the four co-founders of both IQM Quantum Computers and QMill Oy, his entrepreneurial spirit is matched by a series of prestigious recognitions—including the Nokia Recognition Award, Väisälä Science Prize, Innovation Professor Award, and an Honorary Doctorate from Lappeenranta University of Technology—and a membership in the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters as well as the Finnish Academy of Technology.
At Nordic Chip Summit, we'll hear Mikko's thoughts and perspectives on the Future Quantum Computers, on Monday afternoon.
Jason Harrison
CEO of Beneq Oy
Dr. Jason Harrison is a semiconductor industry executive with deep expertise in atomic layer deposition and broader capital equipment technologies.
With over 25 successful new product introductions from concept to high-volume manufacturing, he brings senior leadership experience from Applied Materials, Lam Research, Veeco Instruments, and Picosun, complemented by an early career at Intel that gives him perspective from both the customer and equipment-supplier sides of the industry.
At Beneq, he leads the company's continued advancement of ALD technology for semiconductor, optical, and R&D markets. Dr. Harrison holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis.
At Nordic Chip Summit, Jason will join the Excellence in Ecosystems session on Tuesday afternoon. On stage, he will share Beneq's perspective on the role of deep-tech ecosystems in supporting company growth and innovation, before joining a panel discussion alongside some of Europe's most interesting ecosystem builders.

Paolo Gervasoni
Director, EMEA End Market Aerospace & Defense at GlobalFoundries
Paolo Gervasoni is a senior Aerospace & Defense executive with more than 25 years of experience spanning engineering, business development, sales leadership, and technology strategy.
He currently serves as Director, EMEA End Market Aerospace & Defense at GlobalFoundries, where he leads growth strategy and customer engagement across commercial, defense, and government sectors in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Antti Vasara
Technology Executive, Board chair and NED, Venture Partner, Special Envoy
Antti Vasara is a Venture Partner at Kvanted, focusing on industrial startups in the Nordics and Central Europe. He chairs the boards of the University of Helsinki, Detection Technology, QMill, and SemiQon, while also serving on the boards of several other startups and large-cap companies.
Previously the CEO of VTT, Antti's earlier career includes roles at Nokia and McKinsey, as well as serving as the CEO of SmartTrust. He currently serves as Finland’s Special Envoy for Technology and sits on the European Innovation Council (EIC) board. Additionally, he has advised both the European Commission and the Finnish government on innovation and industrial policy. He holds a doctorate in Technical Physics from Aalto University.
At Nordic Chip Summit Antti will give the event's closing keynote talk on Tuesday 8 September. In this speech, Antti will share his insights from the visionary position he currently has, and shares knowledge that can only be collected at the front row of deep tech companies. Lauri Sainiemi
VP, Fabrication, Microsoft Quantum
Dr. Lauri Sainiemi is Corporate Vice President of Fabrication at Microsoft Quantum and a leader in nanoengineering and advanced manufacturing. After contributing to the development and manufacturing of the display technology behind HoloLens, he now leads efforts to scale Microsoft’s topological qubit technology, bridging the gap between scientific breakthrough and large-scale production.
Lauri currently works at Microsoft Quantum in Copenhagen, where he contributes to the development of next-generation quantum computing technologies. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology.
Throughout his career, Lauri has combined deep scientific expertise with practical technology development, helping advance innovations at the intersection of microelectronics, nanotechnology, and quantum computing.
At Nordic Chip Summit, Lauri will talk about Microsoft's Quantum program and their vision for the future. Come to hear what does one of the world's biggest companies think about quantum and what's their take on this area of technological development.
Marco Ceccarelli
Lead Strategy Coordinator, Microelectronics and Photonics Industry, European Commission
Marco Ceccarelli serves as Lead Strategy Coordinator for Microelectronics and Photonics Industry at the European Commission, where he contributes to shaping EU industrial policies and strategies in semiconductors, with a focus on chip design and AI compute.
Following his role in the drafting and negotiation of the European Chips Act, Marco is now deeply engaged in its implementation and upcoming revision, overseeing support initiatives in chip design, semiconductor manufacturing, as well as financing instruments to scale innovative ventures.
Before joining the Commission in 2017, he held various managerial roles at Philips (NL), including as Head of Product Strategy, spearheading innovation in electronic systems, and held executive positions in high-tech SMEs. His career began as a research scientist in Italy and the Netherlands. Marco holds a Dr.Ing. Laurea in Electronic Engineering from the University of Florence and an Executive MBA from ESSEC Business School in Paris.
At the Nordic Chip Summit, Marco will present the EU semiconductor strategy with a focus on Commission’s proposal for Chips Act 2.0

Philippe Flatresse
Director of Innovation and Partnerships, Minalogic & Director of French Competence Centre for Asterics
Philippe Flatresse is a semiconductor industry expert with more than 30 years of international experience in microelectronics, semiconductor manufacturing, automotive electronics, and emerging digital technologies. Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership positions at STMicroelectronics and SOITEC, driving business development, strategic partnerships, innovation programs, and ecosystem collaboration across Europe, US and Asia.
His expertise spans semiconductor technologies such as FD-SOI, edge AI, automotive electronics, and innovation ecosystem development. A strong advocate for European technological sovereignty, he actively supports initiatives that strengthen semiconductor value chains and foster collaboration across Europe’s microelectronics ecosystem.
Today, Philippe Flatresse is Director of Innovation and Partnerships at Minalogic and Director of the French Competence Center for Asterics, supporting European semiconductor innovation, technology transfer, and ecosystem development.
At the Summit, Philippe will introduce Minalogue and participate in a panel discussion about ecosystems and their importance for development support.
Juha Hassel
VP, Quantum Technologies, IQM Quantum Computers
Dr. Juha Hassel’s career builds on a long track within research and development on superconducting device technology and applications of medical, security, and quantum technologies. Since 2019 after leaving the position as Principal Scientist at VTT, he joined IQM Quantum Computers where he has served in several leadership roles.
At IQM, he has contributed to growing the company from the initial academic spinout into its status today as a unicorn. Juha has been growing and leading the teams responsible for many core technologies needed in the full-stack quantum computers that form the basis of IQM’s product offering.
Juha earned his PhD from Helsinki University of Technology (today Aalto University) in Engineering Physics in 2004. As a member of the research community, Juha contributed to building the technological backbone of the superconducting device technology and instrumentation with features today also used in quantum processors.
Juha will join the Quantum Perspectives session on Monday afternoon, where he reviews IQM’s quantum computing technology at its current stage, and discusses through IQM’s roadmap the possibilities and challenges of quantum computing disruption.
David Gunnarsson
Chief Business Development Officer, Bluefors
David Gunnarsson, Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO), drives strategic growth at Bluefors by bridging technological innovation with business objectives, leading business development and IPR initiatives, and cultivating partnerships. He holds a Ph.D. from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, 2005, focusing on his work on Josephson junction quantum bits.
He continued his research at the Low Temperature Laboratory, Helsinki University of Technology (2005-2008), and, prior to joining Bluefors, worked as a Senior Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland (2008-2015). With his background leading sales, product development and R&D at Bluefors, he has a deep understanding of both technical and business requirements in cryogenics for the future of quantum technology.
At the Nordic Chip Summit David will shed light on what it takes to be the market leader in cryogenic cooling solutions and how does Bluefors sees the growing quantum industry.

Miikka Putaala
Director of Business Development, MEGIN
Miikka Putaala is Director of Business Development at MEGIN, the Espoo-based world leader in clinical magnetoencephalography (MEG). With around 20 years dedicated to MEG technology and its commercialization — including senior roles at Elekta Neuromag, MEGIN's predecessor — and more than a decade in neurosurgery and radiosurgery product development before that, he has an unrivalled view of the global MEG community. His perspective spans from hospital procurement to the needs of the world's leading academic and clinical centres.
Today he helps drive MEGIN's vision of an integrated, full-stack MEG platform that turns quantum sensing into accessible tools for clinical brain health. He holds an MSc in Marketing Management from the Turku School of Economics.

Himadri Majumdar
CEO, SemiQon
Himadri Majumdar is the Co-founder and CEO of SemiQon. SemiQon builds silicon-based quantum hardware to power the scale-up of quantum computing.
Prior to co-founding SemiQon, he was the Program Manager for Quantum Technologies at VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland) where he led both national and European strategic initiatives.
His ambition is to see SemiQon, and quantum technology in general, becoming a Finnish and global success story through cooperation and strategic partnerships. Himadri is trained as an experimental physicist and has 20 years of experience in innovation and innovation management.

Tero Kola
Vice President, RAN System Product Management, Nokia
Tero Kola is Vice President, RAN System Product Management within Mobile Infrastructure at Nokia. He leads Radio Access Network (RAN) system product management across technology generations, with a passion for understanding customer needs, translating them into compelling product strategies, and enabling successful execution across large-scale global R&D organizations. In his current role, he works closely with global operators and ecosystem partners to drive innovation and the evolution towards AI-native and cloud-native radio networks.
Since joining Nokia, Tero has held a variety of leadership positions spanning product management, portfolio management, strategy, and R&D. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the development and commercialization of multiple generations of mobile network technology and has worked in Finland, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
With three decades of experience in the telecommunications industry, Tero has played a key role in shaping Nokia's radio network portfolio and technology roadmap. Tero earned an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Tampere University of Technology, Finland, in 1999.
In the Nordic Chip Summit 2026 he will share Nokia's views on AI and cloud-native networks.

SEric Fribourg-Blanc
Senior Programme Officer, Chips Joint Undertaking
Eric Fribourg-Blanc holds an Engineering degree from Ecole Centrale de Lille in 1997 and PhD from Université Hainaut-Cambrésis in 2003 with specialisation in semiconductor technologies and functional materials.
He has worked for 11 years with CEA-Leti in France. He has studied in Japan and has experience working in Japan and Vietnam for 5 years. From 2015 to 2018 he worked on various policy files at the European Commission, covering the strategy for electronics, IPCEI and state aid issues. Since 2019 he has been working as Programme Officer at the Chips Joint Undertaking and among other is overseeing the APECS pilot line under the Chips for Europe Initiative.
At Nordic Chip Summit, he will explain the current stage and recent developments of Chips JU pilot lines.
Frank Bösenberg
Managing Director of Silicon Saxony
Frank Bösenberg is the Managing Director of Silicon Saxony, one of Europe’s largest semiconductor clusters and the current chairman of Silicon Europe. Based in Dresden, he has steered the organization for over a decade, connecting more than 700 members across industry, research, and government. As Chairman of the Silicon Europe Alliance, Bösenberg leads initiatives to foster innovation and strengthen the European semiconductor ecosystem.
Deeply committed to Saxony’s, Germany’s and Europe’s economic growth, he promotes cooperation in microelectronics, smart systems, and digital technologies, helping position the region as a global high-tech leader.
At the Nordic Chip Summit, he will participate the 'Excellence in ecosystems' session together with other ecosystem leaders to discuss best practices.

Timo Ahopelto
Founding Partner, Lifeline Ventures
Timo Ahopelto is a Finnish entrepreneur, early-stage investor, and founding partner of Lifeline Ventures.
An industrial engineering graduate of the Helsinki University of Technology, he began his career at McKinsey & Company before co-founding the clinical-trial software company CRF Health in 2000, where he served as CEO and later head of global commercial operations until 2006. CRF Health went on to become Finland’s fourth unicorn. Lifeline Ventures, which he co-founded, is known as an early backer of Oura, Wolt, Iceye and Supercell. He has served on the board of Nokia since 2023 and chairs both Canatu Oyj and the Finnish Startup Community. Earlier roles include chairing Slush from 2018 to 2023 and board seats at Solidium, Tietoevry, Business Finland, and the think tanks EVA and ETLA.
He also co-hosts the Startup-ministeriö podcast with Jyri Engeström and writes and speaks frequently on Finland’s need to compete in the current technology shift.

Rene Kromhof
Founding partner, Cloudberry VC
Rene Kromhof is a Founding Partner at Cloudberry VC, Europe's first venture capital fund dedicated to semiconductors, photonics, and advanced materials.
He brings over 25 years of operating experience in semiconductors and photonics, including seven years at ASML and a central role building Heptagon through to its multi billion acquisition by ams AG in 2017. As an investor, he has backed multiple companies with several exits to date, including NILT’s recent 300Meur exit to Radiant Opto-electronics.

Timo Valtonen
CEO & Co-founder, Flow Computing
Timo is an entrepreneur and business leader with a proven track record of building and commercializing deep-tech companies.
As CEO and co-founder of Flow Computing, he leads the company's strategy, fundraising, and commercialization as it advances the next generation of CPU performance. Drawing on extensive experience at the intersection of semiconductors and software, he continues to drive Flow's growth and global commercial progress.
At Nordic Chip Summit, Timo will present the technology they are building at Flow Computing, and how it may solve the challenges in CPU performance in the future.
Pier Paolo Aurino
Project manager, Business development, Chalmers Industriteknik
Pier is a project manager and business developer at Chalmers Industriteknik. He has 8 years of experience in Sales Management of Lasers, Photonics components, and Atomic Force Microscopes.
Currently he works in the Innovation group at Chalmers Industriteknik; focusing on Business Development for projects such as the Swedish Chip Competence Center (SCCC) and the Quantum Sweden Innovation Platform (QSIP).
Pier holds a phd in Physics at Chalmers University of Technology in the Quantum Device Physics group.
At Nordic Chip Summit 2026, Pier will introduce the Swedish Quantum ecosystem.
Marcus Rinkiö
Senior Manager, Process Development, Murata Electronics Oy
Dr. Marcus Rinkiö is Senior Manager of Process Development at Murata Electronics, where he leads R&D activities of team specialized in advanced MEMS manufacturing technologies. His role combines technology and process development with people leadership, strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration in an international environment.
Marcus has more than 15 years of experience in MEMS and semiconductor technology. His background covers sensor and resonator development, simulation, electrical testing, validation, failure analysis and the industrialisation of new technologies. Having worked in research, engineering, specialist and leadership positions, he brings a broad perspective from early-stage technology development to high-volume manufacturing.
He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Jyväskylä, with a research background in nanoelectronics, carbon-nanotube devices and semiconductor fabrication. He holds several patented MEMS and wafer-level technologies and peer-reviewed scientific publications.
At the Nordic Chip Summit, Marcus will share Murata's insights on manufacturing processes and practices.
Mika Laiho
Chief Technology Officer, Kovilta
Dr. Mika Laiho is the CTO at Kovilta, a company specializing in visual sensing and computing solutions for real-time robotic control. His interests include image sensors, on-sensor computing, and neural network hardware implementations on edge devices.
At Nordic Chip Summit, Mika will share Kovilta's insights and solution on Parallel-processor IC technology for Low Latency Perception.
Clement Fleury
Senior Scientist, Silicon Austria Labs
Dr. Clement Fleury is a Senior Scientist, Integrated Photonics Technologies & Microsystems at Silicon Austria Labs. He got his PhD in Solid State Electronics at the TU Wien in 2018.
Since 2019, he has been working as a senior scientist at Silicon Austria Labs GmbH (SAL) with activities in metrology, integrated photonics and optical MEMS development. He was later a founding member of the Integrated Photonics research unit.
Since 2026, he has been SAL’s PI and work package leader for the European neutral atom quantum pilot line Q-Planet, where he oversees the development of integrated laser systems in the short visible wavelengths for quantum computing and sensing. At SAL, Clement has been developing the Aluminum Nitride photonic platform for visible and UV light.
At the Nordic Chip Summit, Clement will participate the 'Excellence in ecosystems' session to discuss best practices and benefits of ecosystems for the industry.
Kalle Spoof
ASIC and Radar Specialist, Saab Finland
Kalle Spoof finished his doctoral degree in IC design from Aalto University in 2023. The degree was as a part of Saab's Industrial PhD program, and focused on antenna array receivers. Since then, he has been involved in ramping up in-house mixed-signal IC design capability for Saab, as well as in radar system design.
At the Nordic Chip Summit, he will share Saab's insights on building defence and dual-use technology.
Erkki Seppäläinen
CEO – Co-founder of SisuSemi Ltd.
Erkki Seppäläinen is CEO of SisuSemi, leading the commercialization of surface physics innovations that will transform semiconductor manufacturing. With over 30 years of experience in process development, equipment design, and technology leadership, Erkki has held senior roles at Beneq, Draka, and LINK Design, driving breakthroughs in optics, coatings, and advanced materials. He is passionate about bridging research and industry.
At the Summit, Erkki will introduce SisuSemi and their solution.

Markku Korhonen
Managing Director, Kongsberg Defence Oy
Markku Korhonen is the Managing Director of Kongsberg Defence Oy and has worked at Kongsberg since 2010 in project management, site management and leadership roles. He has extensive experience in the defence industry, having previously worked at Patria Land in project management and systems roles.
Before moving to industry, he served in the Finnish Defence Forces for more than a decade, including as a staff officer and teacher specialising in radar tactics, optronics and missile technologies. He holds a Master’s degree in Project and Service Business Management and is a trained General Staff Officer.
At Nordic Chip Summit, Markku will share insights on Kongsberg's technologies and business.
