Payment options
Swedish participants. Swedish participants can choose to pay either by credit card or by invoice. Invoice to Swedish organizations will be sent as an electronical invoice (e-faktura) if possible, or otherwise as a pdf by e-mail.
Participants from outside Sweden. All payments must be made in SEK (Swedish krona). Payment should be made by credit card or by bank transfer (invoice). An invoice including bank transfer information (bank account number, IBAN, etc) will be sent upon choice of this payment method. The invoice is created manually, and will be sent usually a few days after registration. The participant/payee is responsible for any bank charges/fees associated with the payment.
Credit card payment. We accept the following credit cards: VISA and Mastercard. For your safety, our payment system is connected to the 3D Secure system for ensuring the security of payments made through the internet. Your card needs to be connected to Verified by Visa or Mastercard SecureCode. Your bank can inform you if your card is connected, and if not already, how it can be connected.
Taxes/ VAT 25%
According to Swedish and EU legislation, 25% Swedish VAT will be added to all registration fees. This according to EU legislation and regulation for conferences and events (C-647/17, EU:C:2019:195, of 13 March 2019 and Article 53 of Council Directive 2006/112/EC of 28 November 2016) VAT is paid in the country where services are rendered, e.g. the country in which the conference takes place.
Exception: Swedish participants from governmental public sector organizations “statliga myndigheter” (e.g., universities, governmental agencies): No VAT will be added. In this case, you must choose Invoice (Swedish billing address only) as the payment mode and provide the VAT number of your employer.
VAT will always be charged for payment by credit card.
Cancellation conditions and refunds
Cancellations should be made in writing to the conference secretariat. A cancellation fee of SEK 750 will be charged for all cancellations for in person registrations. If you cancel a still unpaid registration, you will also be charged a cancellation fee of SEK 750. For virtual registrations, the registration is binding.
Change of Name
Should you be unable to attend, you will be given the opportunity to send someone in your place at no extra cost. If this should be the case, please contact the conference administration office, Academic Conferences at PlanetaryBiology2026@akademikonferens.se
Every participant at the meeting is welcome to submit one abstract, either for a lightning talk or a poster presentation. Due to time constraints only a limited number of abstracts will be accepted for lightning talks. Accepted abstract authors will be notified about presentation format and specific requirements by 3rd September 2026.
The deadline for abstract submission is August 27, 2026.
Session I. Integrating approaches in Planetary Biology
This session highlights how combining methods, technologies, and perspectives across disciplines enables us to understand life across scales — from molecules to ecosystems and from local processes to global patterns. We especially encourage contributions on how experimental biology, field studies, omics technologies, modeling, and data integration can be brought together to address complex biological questions that cannot be solved within a single approach.
Session II. Climate resilience
How do organisms, communities, and ecosystems respond and adapt to a rapidly changing climate? This session focuses on biological mechanisms of resilience across scales, from molecular and physiological adaptations to species interactions and ecosystem stability. We especially encourage contributions on adaptive mechanisms to climate stress, resilience in natural and managed ecosystems, and predictive approaches linking biological responses across scales.
Session III. Biodiversity decline
This session addresses how Planetary Biology can contribute to understanding, monitoring, and mitigating biodiversity decline through integrative biological approaches that inform conservation and policy. We especially encourage contributions on genomic, evolutionary, ecological, and monitoring approaches that connect biodiversity patterns to ecosystem function and conservation action.
Session IV. Feeding the world
This session explores how biological knowledge across scales can contribute to resilient agriculture, sustainable aquaculture, soil health, crop improvement, and food system innovation. We especially encourage contributions on integrative approaches linking molecular biology, microbiology, ecology, and environmental sciences to develop sustainable, productive, and climate-resilient food systems.
As Sweden’s leading life science infrastructure, SciLifeLab operates at the intersection of scientific excellence, technological innovation, and global collaboration. The next era of life science extends beyond human health to include the health of our planet. We bring together the institutions, technologies, and individuals shaping this transition.
